URBANA Open Space

URBANA is opening a new chapter with Open Space!

URBANA Open Space was born from a simple idea: to create space and time for people to come together, exchange knowledge, share practices and experiment with new ways of learning, creating and living collectively.

We imagine Open Space as a living platform where people from different backgrounds, disciplines and communities can meet as equals, bringing their experiences, skills and questions into conversation. It is a space where knowledge circulates horizontally and where participation begins with the belief that everyone has something valuable to contribute.

Our open call invites individuals and collectives to share a practice, a workshop, a conversation, a creative process or simply an idea they would like to explore with others, through activities hosted at URBANA’s space in Chalandri. Every activity is an opportunity to learn together, build relationships and imagine more caring, inclusive and connected ways of living in our cities.

Activities can take many forms, from hands-on workshops and creative making to discussions, collective reading sessions, screenings and experimental learning formats. Rather than following a fixed programme, Open Space grows through the ideas and initiatives of the people who take part in it.

The first Open Space activities

During the first months of Open Space (April–June 2026), we explored bicycle repair and maintenance, clothing repair and reuse, clay-based collective envisioning, and conversations around cooperative housing and collective ways of living.

These gatherings were about much more than developing practical skills. They became opportunities to exchange experiences, build trust, spark new collaborations and reflect together on care, participation and everyday urban life.

Each activity has contributed to shaping Open Space into an evolving community of practice, where learning is collective, participation is open, and every new encounter expands what this space can become.
