Feminist Neighborhood Analysis: Kolonos

Between October and November 2021, we collaborated with ActionAid Hellas within the framework of the Gender Responsive, Accountable and Transparent Budgeting project. We designed and implemented awareness raising workshops and exploratory walks in the neighborhood of Kolonos (Athens), in collaboration with the ActionAid Hellas Community Center.

During the workshops, participants were invited to reflect on the gendered dimensions of public space and how these shape their everyday lives. Through collective discussion and mapping, they evaluated the public spaces they use daily and articulated proposals for change rooted in lived experience.

Following the workshops, we brought together the key issues, observations, and conclusions that emerged, and shared them with local authorities to support further action and more inclusive approaches to urban planning.
